Lil' but Mighty

A little gem can give off a great sparkle.
A little mustard seed can grow into a great tree.
A little boy called David can defeat a great giant called Goliath.

At Lil' but Mighty, we believe in the power of your little ones to achieve great things!
Let us unlock their potential and watch them go from strength to strength.
Let us prepare them for English assessment in school and even more importantly, English usage in the real world.

Behold, they are lil' but mighty!

The Vision

The BIG Mission

Let us prepare them for English assessment in school and even more importantly, English usage in the real world.

Our Story

After attaining a 2nd Upper Honours in the Bachelor of Arts (Edu) with a major in English, I began officially teaching in 2010. Through the years, my passion for teaching grew as I taught pupils with various learning abilities and personalities. Children whom I have taught will recognise me as a warm and amiable teacher with a bag of strategies to help them learn. There must be reason for saying “Laughter is the best medicine” and it is an important ingredient in a positive learning environment. Learning should not just be stressful and boring.

The Turning Point

In 2014, my family is blessed with our first child. After a period of discussion and prayer, we decided that we would like an option which preserves my passion in teaching and allows me to spend more time with my child. Over the years, I found that one of the greatest excitements of teaching come from the times when I discovered new strategies in helping children learn. Seeing a child understand and being able to apply the strategies taught to help them do well gives me a sense of fulfilment which only teaching can offer.

The idea of private tuition was hatched.

Tuition & Blogging: The Best of Both Worlds

The greatest joy in giving small group tuition is my ability to create greater impact in the children that have been entrusted in my care. To impact them in their academic achievement and in their attitude towards learning; to prepare them for assessment and also integration into a world connected by the English language.

The greater control of time in a small group also means the ability to use more tools during teaching. I enjoy the flexibility for me to use ICT learning tools that can engage and encourage collaborative learning in class. These tools will also be a great platform for parents to monitor their children’s work and receive timely and constant feedback.

Other than tuition, the sharing of tips in a community is essential in aiding me to preserve my passion in teaching.  I realised that I would like to be able to help not just children who are in my class but anyone who needs some help with their learning of the language. This desire of mine became possible through my starting of a blog to share English Tips with any willing learner who drops by.

In favour of these opportunities to grow, the Lil' but Mighty English website was established to offer English Tips and Primary English Tuition service.

You, me, we: A Partnership

At Lil' but Mighty English Primary Tuition, education is a partnership among teachers, pupils and parents. I believe that a healthy attitude towards learning can be and needs to be cultivated through helpful studying practices such as goal-setting and timetabling, beginning from a young age. With constant communication and feedback, we can make a difference. My hope is to inculcate in young ones an enduring passion for learning that will grow with them as they continue their journey in education.

Ms Nora

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the National University of Singapore and later receiving my Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education, I began my teaching career in 1998.

I am committed to providing students with a dynamic and nurturing environment in which they can grow and develop. One of my greatest strengths as an educator is instilling a love for the English Language in my students. I accomplish this by incorporating games and Drama conventions, such as hot-seating and freeze frames, into my lessons to spark their interest and make learning enjoyable.

In my years of experience, I have had the opportunity to meet students from various backgrounds and cultures. I have been able to establish positive relationships with and support the pastoral development of the students under my care. More importantly, I believe that working hand-in-hand with parents is the ultimate key in helping children to succeed.

Robert John Meehan once said, “Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning.” As a teacher who is passionate about what I do, I hope to equip my students not only with the necessary examination skills but also to develop them into thinking, creative individuals.
